What Is Your Mission?
Today is a new month and a new day, it is the day the Lord has made, so let us rejoice!
What does it mean to you to Lead A Christian Life?
With so many important things going on this month (Thursday May 21st the Ascension of Jesus and Sunday May 31st Pentecost) I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the Church, our Lord & Savior and his mission for all Believers.
In the Bible the word “Church” doesn’t mean the building, the leader or the music or entertainment.
The word “Church” means assembly.
The definition of the word “assembly” according to the dictionary is: “coming together of a number of persons, usually for a particular purpose”.
Therefore the Church IS the people or rather YOU and other like-minded Believers who proclaim that Jesus is Lord and want to carry out His mission for us as believers.
Yes, as Believers we actually have a mission that was given to US by JESUS! How cool is that!
If we truly accept Jesus as Lord than we have to do what he tells us to do, right?
Jesus gave us a very specific mission to carry out over our life.
The definition of the word “mission” according to the dictionary is: “any important task or duty that is assigned, allotted, or self-imposed”. It also describes a mission as “an important goal or purpose that is accompanied by strong conviction, a calling or vocation”.
Now that’s some powerful stuff! Jesus gave you and I a super important mission that goes right along with our strong conviction as Believers that Jesus is Lord!
The mission that Jesus gave those who believe in Him with all their heart and soul is called “The Great Commission” and is described in detail in Mark 16:14-18
14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues, 18 they will take up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them, they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Are we doing what Jesus asked us to do in the above words?
We know the sacrifice Jesus made for US, but what are WE doing every day for HIM?
If we are not doing what Jesus asked us to do, what does that really mean for us as Believers?
Think about these words my fellow Believers and look deep inside your heart and ask yourself if we should be calling ourselves Believers if we are not doing what Jesus asked us to do in “The Great Commission” as described in Mark 16:14-18?
Are WE as “Believers” of today really doing what Jesus asked us to do in His name?
Are we really being faithful Believers in Jesus?
So again, what does it mean to YOU to Lead A Christian Life?
Thank you Jesus, for your sacrifice on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus, you are Lord!
Our prayer for you is that each and every day and in all that you do, may God’s love fill your heart!
Faithfully yours in Christ ~ Matt
